THERAPEUTIC OPPORTUNITIES WITH MONOCLONAL ANTIBODIES - CURRENT STATUS AND PROSPECTS
Berlin

Thirty years ago, on January 23, 1975, Georges Köhler recorded the key experiment for the first ever generation of a monoclonal antibody in his laboratory notebook. Today, therapy with monoclonal antibodies is one of the fastest growing therapeutic areas, both from a medical and economic standpoint. Since the first monoclonal antibody received marketing authorization in 1986, additional ones were created for diagnostics and therapy that can be used predominantly for cancer but also for a number of other serious diseases. The symposium will provide an assessment of the current situation and the prospects of this research area that is already making a key impact on today's therapeutic spectrum.
