Paul-Martini-Symposium 2006
Pharmacotherapy for the critically ill patient in intensive care
Berlin, Kaiserin-Friedrich-Haus
Every year, more than 150,000 people in Germany alone develop sepsis and about 60,000 die as a result, making sepsis the third most frequent cause of death. This is just one of the "problems" of critically ill patients in intensive care. Multiple organ dysfunction syndrome, shock, acute heart failure and SIRS are other problems posing great challenges to pharmacotherapy and to the nutrition of such patients. These subjects will be presented and discussed during the next PMS fall symposium.
