Principles and perspectives in pharmaceutical prevention
Berlin, Kaiserin-Friedrich-Stiftung
This symposium will serve the purpose of highlighting the significance of pharmaceuticals as part of all other options in preventive medicine.
Therefore, the following questions shall be dealt with
- What role do pharmaceuticals play in preventive medicine, especially in primary prevention?
- What are the existing benefits of non-pharmaceutical prevention and how many additional benefits are provided by pharmaceuticals?
- What are the benefits of pharmaceuticals alone, if the target individual is unwilling to undergo non-pharmaceutical prevention?
In light of this situation, the symposium will critically analyze the current status and the perspectives of pharmaceuticals for preventive medicine.

Quality of Life as a criterion for decisions regarding marketing authorization, therapy and reimbursement
Maintaining or improving the quality of life plays an increasingly important role especially for tumours and chronic diseases when it comes to decisions regarding marketing authorization, therapy and reimbursement. Yet, the methodology for measuring and assessing the quality of life is still in its early days. As a result, this workshop is meant to comprehensively present the current state of affairs and outline the prospects in this area, thereby making a contribution to adding more scientific weight to the criterion of quality of life.
